The festive season is upon us and there’s a tonne of fabulous things to do on Dartmoor! Get yourself out and about this November & December. Okehampton Edwardian Christmas Evening Event, Dartmoor
Kickstart your Christmas season on Dartmoor in style with this evening of festivities in Okehampton's town centre on Thursday, November 30th. It runs from 18:00 to 21:00. They have carol singing with the Mayor in attendance, plus enchanting songs by Terrie-May and Alison Moyna, and magical stilt walkers. Also, there are lots of fun things for kids including a magical gnome trail!
You can shop for unique gifts at 35 stalls and indulge in delicious street food. Local shops and businesses will stay open late to join in the festive spirit. This community-focused event is sponsored by Everything Okehampton and is completely free to attend. Why not start or finish off the night with a drink and a meal at Bearslake Inn? Tavistock Christmas Lights Event on Dartmoor
The Christmas lights will be switched on, on December 1st. The Tavistock Dickensian Evening light switch-on promises to be a fantastic event. The lights go on at 5:45 pm. There are also 'Thawed' Stilt Walkers, Elfic the Juggler, Terrie-Mae McNulty, and the legendary Santa Paws Grotto.
Clovelly Christmas Lights Event on Dartmoor
Also not to be missed on Sunday, December 3rd is the Clovelly Christmas lights switch-on. Clovelly is situated in a stunning location on the North Devon coast. This ancient fishing village was once owned by the Queen of England. It is a beautiful spot situated on a 400-foot cliff overlooking the sea.

The Dartmoor Train of Christmas Lights!
The mesmerising world of the Christmas Train of Lights is an exceptional Christmas event on Dartmoor. As the UK's first-ever steam train of lights, it is an enchanting journey of delights.
The adventure begins at Queen's Park Station in Paignton, where the vintage carriages are adorned with thousands of twinkling lights. All aboard for the first 15-minute ride to Churston Station where the real magic begins. First, you’re whisked through the Greenway tunnel. Then, you emerge from the tunnel into an enchanted forest that has been transformed by illuminated Christmas lights. The magical journey ends with the twinkling lights of Dartmouth reflecting on the tranquil river Dart.

Exeter Christmas Market
From Friday 17th November to 17th December 2023, you can enjoy a beautiful day out at Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market. There are hundreds of festive chalets, selling local gifts and produce, and bars with street food from around the globe. You can also get free entry into the stunning Exeter Cathedral. There you can see the captivating ‘Light of Hope Star’ installation by artist Peter Walker. Soak up the festive spirit in Exeter at Devon and Dartmoor’s largest Christmas market!
Tavistock Christmas Market at the Butchers’ Hall
Nearer to Bearslake Inn is the Butchers’ Hall Christmas market in Tavistock. From the 14th of December to the 23rd of December 2023, the Butchers' Hall will transform into a winter wonderland.
Take a stroll through this charming market. You’ll find an extensive array of traders showcasing their wares and handcrafted goodies to fill those Christmas stockings. Spiced mulled wine, freshly baked gingerbread, and a host of foodie treats. What else could you ask for? The Tavistock Christmas Market opens daily from 9 am to 4 pm, giving you ample time to explore.
